About Lynda

Hi I’m Lynda. I’m married to Eoin, we live in Citywest where we raise our two teens. I am an active member of our community, having started out like many others, by joining the school parents association! I then volunteered with our community council, where I am now Chairperson. I have spent many years alongside my committee members campaigning for our schools, better community amenities, more Gardaí and more outdoor spaces.

I am passionate about our community, ensuring that we have a good balance of residential homes, business opportunities, community amenities, enhanced parks & proper infrastructure for our growing needs.

My Priorties

Reliable & Safe Transport System

The reliability and safety of the public transport serving our communities is an important priority for me. I have raised the ongoing issues of over-crowding, unreliability and safety on the Red line Luas service. As a member of the Tallaght Transport forum, I requested that security personnel be visible on the line between Belgard & Saggart. Transdev have now agreed to this and residents are noticing the increase in security, making the Luas a safer form of transport. I am continuing to lobby the National Transport of Ireland for the delivery of the new Luas Timeline and Fleet as promised earlier this year.

Enhanced Amenities

Addressing the serious lack of community amenities has been my focus as a community activist for many years. I was involved in the campaign for the new Citywest Secondary school, and it is wonderful to now see that construction has commenced for both Gael Scoil Lir and Coláiste Pobail Fóla. Every day, I continue to highlight the severe lack of amenities in the Citywest & Saggart areas. We have seen an exponential growth in residential developments, however planning for this increase in population is seriously lacking. We need urgent investment from South Dublin County Council, to allow them to provide adequate community amenities, enhanced greens spaces, sports facilities and roads infrastructure to cater for our growing community.

Safer Communities

Our neighborhoods are entitled to their fair share of policing resources and that includes a physical Garda presence at the heart of our community. I am a member of both community safety forums, hosted by Tallaght & Clondalkin Garda Stations. I was very pleased that after representations made by me at the Community Safety meetings, Inspector Duggan announced the appointment of 2 new community Gardaí for the Citywest area. I will continue to advocate for residents so that we can all enjoy safer streets.
